We are proud to announce our support for the RoadPeace Challenge 2024, a nationwide event designed to raise awareness about road safety and honour those affected by road crashes.
The RoadPeace Challenge, which takes place from May 13-19, 2024, is one of the most significant events in the UK road safety calendar, bringing together emergency services, local authorities, businesses, schools and communities to take a united stand against road death and injury.
The aim of the event is to raise awareness about the unacceptable number of people killed in crashes on the UK’s roads, as well as vital funds for RoadPeace, the national charity for road crash victims.
During the week of action, participants will collectively run, walk, cycle, or horse ride 1,766 miles to honour the 1,766 people reported killed on UK roads in 2022.
As part of its commitment to road safety and as a leading mobility scooter insurance intermediary, we have donated to the RoadPeace Challenge and look to actively promote the activities across the UK as part of the annual event.
Our support for the RoadPeace Challenge is part of the company’s broader commitment to promoting safer roads.
Last month, we launched a Safer Mobility campaign, which aims to inform mobility scooter users about the risks they face when travelling on or near the roads and raise awareness about their vulnerability to all road users.
Road casualty data shows that in 2022 alone, nine mobility scooter users were killed, and 270 were injured in collisions on UK roads. This means that mobility scooter drivers are more than twice as likely to be killed in a road crash than other road users.
