Surewise recently hosted a Charity Golf Day in aid of one of our partners Blesma, The Limbless Veterans Charity, which was a huge success. The turnout was excellent, and we had the pleasure of being joined by several Blesma members, we felt very privileged to be in their company.
We chose Blesma to become one of our charity partners as we were inspired by the support they offer to improve the lives of ex-servicemen and women who have experienced loss of limb or loss of sight. The team at Blesma have been working tirelessly to assist their members in living independent and fulfilling lives. Not only do they support those directly affected, but their generosity is extended to their families also. We are grateful to have the opportunity to raise money for Blemsa, with the knowledge that the funds raised will contribute to their ongoing efforts to improve the lives of those affected by limb loss.
The Golf Day was hosted at Maylands Golf Club, a fantastic course with some incredible wildlife including several deer that didn’t seem afraid of a golf ball flying their way!
The Events of The Day
The day started with a bacon roll brunch, followed by a brief talk by one of the organisers, Terry, to let everyone know what was in store for the day. Then it was time for the teams to warm up and head to their starting holes for tee-off. Once the air horn signalled the start of the game the competition was on for the longest drive, nearest the pin and nearest the gin as well as the best overall team and individual score.
We hosted refreshment stops along the way in the form of a gin and whiskey tent and a prosecco tent, which also doubled up as our ‘Beat The Pro’ station. This got very competitive with extra bets being placed and most importantly extra money being raised for Blesma.
Once all 18 holes had been completed, the teams headed back into the clubhouse and raffle tickets were sold with some excellent prizes up for grabs. After everyone had finished the 2-course sit-down meal it was time to tally up the scorecards and hand out the prizes, followed by an auction.
Lastly, we finished the evening by watching England secure their place in the Euro 2024 final. It was a perfect end to a successful day.
