For the past few years, we have been honoured to partner with Blesma, an organisation supporting limbless veterans. Our partnership includes an annual commitment to donate four mobility scooters.
These mobility scooters play a crucial role in helping Blesma’s Members regain their independence. While some Members have lived without a limb for years, others have recently undergone amputations due to injury or infection.
Blesma’s work encompasses providing various assistive devices, including mobility scooters, prosthetic limbs, and stair lifts, all aimed at enhancing their Members’ quality of life. However, these essential aids come with significant costs. To support Blesma’s mission, we have committed to donating four mobility scooters each year.
Stuart Bensuan, Director of Surewise, says ‘’We appreciate the chance to support Blesma’s vital work by providing mobility scooters for their members. It was a pleasure to meet Mr and Mrs King and personally deliver their new scooters.”
Mr King, a Blesma member and true hero, sustained injuries during his military service that led to the loss of his leg. Initially relying heavily on his prosthetic, Mr. King found his mobility increasingly challenged as time went on.
Upon learning that Mr King’s wife, Brenda, also needed a mobility scooter, we were delighted to provide the couple with matching scooters to enhance their daily lives together.
After acquiring the scooters, we had the privilege of personally delivering them to the Kings. We made the journey to Kent to ensure the couple received their new mobility aids directly from us, along with complimentary insurance.
The pair have since said ‘’We want to thank Surewise for our new scooters. They have allowed us to gain some independence and be able to get about town quicker.’’
